Ganglion Cysts

Ganglion Cysts Treatment

TREATMENT:

Non-cancerous, fluid-filled cysts, Ganglion Cysts form over joints or tendons, most commonly at the wrist. Though some Ganglion cysts produce no symptoms, other than their appearance, they can cause numbness or aching, and at times may cause weakness in the hand.

Often, no treatment is needed. However, if the cyst or cysts cause pain or hinder hand movement, several treatment options are available, including:

  • Aspiration: performed under local anesthetic to drain fluid from the cyst.
  • Surgery: to remove cysts which cause excessive pain or greatly impede movement.

Dr. Fiore specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of Ganglion Cysts. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and fellowship trained in hand surgery. For more information on treatment options, or to schedule a consultation, call Fiore Hand and Wrist at (281) 970-8002.
